Previously ‘Track of the Day’ ran down a chart of the ‘Top 300 Jazz Artists’ as determined on ‘Rate Your Music’. The new theme is ‘artists that didn’t make the charts’.
This is Mulato Astatke with Hailu Mergia & The Walias Band.

From today 'Track of the Day' will revert to being simply that. The artist-themed approach of recent times has led to somewhat clunky repetitions. I am going to include more blues. It isn't easy check whether a track has been played before so I apologise in advance for any repetitions. If I can't remember choosing a track, I suspect that you can't remember listening to it either.
I have almost certainly chosen this before. It is one of my favourites.
