Ernest Ranglin is a veteran Jamaican guitarist who was a pioneer of Ska and Reggae music and famously played guitar on and arranged "My Boy Lollipop". He has played, recorded, and toured with Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, the Skatalites, Prince Buster, Peter Tosh, and Lee Scratch Perry, amongst others. In the sixties he joined the Ronnie Scott's house band for a 9 month stint and Melody Maker′s readers voted him into first place in the guitar category of the paper's 1964 Reader's Jazz Poll. He achieved wide recognition for his 1996 album 'Below the Bassline', a collection of reggae tunes played by a group of jazz musicians which included Monty Alexander. This performance will be part of his farewell tour. He will be accompanied by a stellar line up of Tony Allen on drums and Afro-beat; Soweto Kinch on sax; Cheikh Lo on vocals and percussion; Alex Wilson on keys and Ira Coleman on bass.
