A new book has been published "The 100 Jazz Albums That Shook The World."
Here is some background information on Melody Gardot. At the age of 19, she was involved in a bicycle accident and sustained a head injury. Music played a critical role in her recovery. She became an advocate of music therapy, visiting hospitals and universities to discuss its benefits. In 2012, she gave her name to a music therapy program in New Jersey.
For those willing to travel a little further for their music Sidcup Jazz club has live bands playing traditional Jazz every Thursday.
