Having just posted the schedule below for the first half of this year now this ...

WEDS THE 11TH OF JAN IS THE FINAL JAZZ SESSION WITH THE SUSSEX JAZZ KINGS. THE HOTEL WILL BE CLOSING THIS WEEK.
The Sussex Jazz Kings play (traditional) Jazz at Hadlow Manor on the first Wednesday of every month 12.00pm to 3.30pm.
Entry is £8 (including a donation to charity)
Hot meals and sandwiches available until 12.45.
I attended one of these sessions and found that it was a well supported event in good surroundings.
The Jazz Kings gave a lively rendition of traditional Jazz, featuring trombone, trumpet, clarinet, banjo, bass and drums as well as vocals. They delivered some good solos but there was also a measure of improvisation in the ensemble sections. For part of the time, the bassist laid aside his bass and played a tuba which gave a good authentic New Orleans feel.
The food was advertised as 'from £7' but this bare information doesn't do justice to the good value on offer. Sandwiches cost £6.50 but come with a good helping of chips. A main meal (fish pie, chicken pie) was £7 with a selection of vegetables. There was also a serve-yourself buffet with hors d'oeuvres and salad. Filter coffee was available at £1 a cup and in addition there was a bar.
These are the dates for 2023.
