Here are two stories of two groups from the 1920s/30s that bore similar names and had enduring success throughout the period. However, their backgrounds and personnel lineups were totally different. The groups in question were: The Cotton Pickers - www.redhotjazz.com/cottonpickers.html and McKinney's Cotton Pickers - www.redhotjazz.com/cotton.htmlI found the historical comparison between these two similarly named groups fascinating. There are low resolution examples of their respective music in the discography sections lower down the page in each case. For further (better quality) examples, the two bands are well represented on Youtube (random examples below). www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL6olyHq1rg www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqkLCyyCh4gAdditionally, have a look at the lineups in each case, there are some big names in each band throughout their existence!
