This video is a tribute to Bill Luckett who along with Morgan freeman was the owner of the "Ground Zero Blues Club" in Clarksdale Mississippi. It got its name from the fact that Clarksdale has been historically referred to as "Ground Zero" for the blues. Bill was a former Mississippi mayor, a Democratic candidate for Governor of Mississippi in the 2011 elections. He finished second in the August 2 primary election. This song is part of his campaign and it is great fun.

The 'Track of the Day' is currently running down a list of the of the 'Top 300 Jazz Artists' rateyourmusic.com/list/noname219/top_300_jazz_artists/3/ . The list is based upon the number of entries and positions that an artist has achieved in a published list of most popular Jazz albums. Because it based upon album popularity, there is necessarily a bias towards more recent artists. Louis Armstrong may have sold umpteen different 'Greatest Hits' album but unless one or more particular 'Greatest Hits' album is rated, then none of them count towards his standing in the 'Top 300 Jazz Artists'. Despite this limitation, it is an interesting list that is worth exploring. Returning to the chart rundown, here Art Blakey shows all his drumming skills.

The American guitarist Pat Martino died yesterday. The guitar work on this track was nominated for a Grammy.
In 1980, Martino suffered a hemorrhaged arteriovenous malformation causing a "near-fatal seizure" in 1980. This left him with amnesia and no recollection or knowledge of his career or how to play the very instrument that made him successful. He was forced to learn how to play the guitar from zero. This track was recorded in 2001.

The death has been announced of American guitarist Emmett Chapman. Early on he played with Barney Kessel, but then proceeded to invent the "Chapman Stick". This is a nine-string "Freedom Guitar" to which accommodated his "Free Hands" tapping method. Here he demonstrates the instrument by playing a John McLaughlin composition.
