Previously ‘Track of the Day’ ran down a chart of the ‘Top 300 Jazz Artists’ as determined on ‘Rate Your Music’. The new theme is ‘artists that didn’t make the charts’.
This is a track featuring Chicago Underground and Pharaoh Sanders.

This track has a slightly angular introduction, but don't let that put you off. Once it gets going it is pretty good straight ahead jazz.

This is a tribute track for Austrian conductor and jazz musician Richard Oesterreiche. Although trained on the accordion, piano and trombone, the guitar became his main instrument in the first instance, but later he specialised on harmonica playing. Here he plays the harmonica.

Today we note the passing of Barrett Strong with four recordings of 'Money (That's What I Want)'.
The BBC news page tells us that "Barrett Strong, a pivotal figure in the history of Motown Records, has died at the age of 81. He sang the label's first major hit, Money (That's What I Want).
I own a 45 rmp of the recording under the 'London American Recording Label', it attributes the track to 'ANNA, Detroit' rather than Motown.
There is still some controversy regarding the fact that Strong was not credited as a writer of the song.
