Previously ‘Track of the Day’ ran down a chart of the ‘Top 300 Jazz Artists’ as determined on ‘Rate Your Music’. The new theme is ‘artists that didn’t make the charts’.
Here Groover Washington Junior plays alongside Eddie Henderson.

Here we have Groover Washington playing "All the King's Horses" alongside the original by composer Aretha Franklin and a blistering version by Joss Stone (then 16 years old). Which do you prefer?

It wouldn't be the first time that I selected this track for the Christmas season, but it is so good. Note to self need to find some happy Christmas tracks.

A tribute track here for American jazz vibraphonist Harry Shepphard. He actually played with Billie Holliday though I can't find a recording of this.
Wikipedia tells us that at 84 he suffered two strokes, surgeries on his carotid arteries and a tongue cancer diagnosis, but continued playing. He died aged 94.
This track is from the most schizophrenic album I have heard:- half of it is mainstream jazz and half is heavy rock jazz.
