The current interest in vintage dancing has naturally led to an interest in Swing and Jive music. This in turn has given rise to a phenomenon known as ‘modern vintage’ where contemporary musicians offer their interpretations of the vintage sound. Some items are obvious pastiche, (similar to Georgie Fame’s ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ or The New Vaudeville Band’s ‘Winchester Cathedral’), but some are sufficiently authentic that dancers may not be aware that they are jiving to modern recordings.
