At 92, drummer and bandleader, Chico Hamilton. I was only became aware of him because of his appearance in the film 'Jazz on a Summer's Day', so this is a welcome chance to explore his music further.
The first track is a real corker.

'For Mods Only' by Chico Hamilton is a composition written by Archie Shepp. Surprisingly Shepp plays piano here and it is Arnie Lawrence who is on saxophone. Larry Coryell plays guitar.

At 91, trumpeter Tomasz Stanko. Again, he is a name I have heard of, but I haven't heard his music. This track starts with a burst of avant garde exuberance but then has some quiet gentle moments.

A sad interruption to the chart countdown today, whilst we play a track in memory Ginger Baker. I saw him play with Cream and with his Airforce Group. Here he is with Bill Frisell and Charlie Haden.
